Proportional Porticos

Most of classical architecture is supposed to have so many proportional relations in between each and everyone of its elements, trying to continue the work of nature by its sacred geometry. Don’t miss out this amazing workshop about the Proportional Porticos at The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art.

The portico is both a complete compositional element as well as the center and starting point for expanded classical architectural compositions. This workshop will demonstrate a variety of applied proportional techniques for designing four, six, and eight columned porticos in the Greek and Roman traditions using Geometric, Arithmetic, and Harmonic Ratio methods. There are no prerequisites but some familiarity with the elements of classical architecture is suggested.

Materials: To follow the demonstrations participants may, if they wish, bring compass, straight edge, pen or pencil, and paper or notebook, 9 x 12 or 11 x 17.
