Pillows have become such a hot trend in wedding design. We’re used to the idea of comfy guest seating areas, but in the past these have been styled with larger cushioned chair backs and seats. Now, throw pillows are the “In” thing, especially when you apply some artistry to the selection of colors and patterns.
Take the styles seen at this recent Weylin B. Seymour’s wedding cocktail party. It’s an effortless look, (one that clearly took a lot of effort) pairing solid colored pillows with ones carrying the bird motif. Then, we have well-placed pillows with patterns elsewhere, creating a coordinated grouping on each couch.
The key here is not to be too matchy-matchy with your pillow designs, but rather to design collections. Simply having two different colors of solid pillows would look too simplistic. You’ve got to have a little bit of pattern, a favorite motif, perhaps even your monogram letter to break it up. And even if you rent most of your pillows (such as the solid-colored ones,) you can then bring home the motif, monogram or pattern seen at your wedding as a cozy décor touch that brings you right back to your Big Day every day.
