2016 is a very special year. Why? Because it’s the first time that Pantone released not one, but two colors of the year. In this case, the featured colors are Rose Quartz, a romantic, subtle pink, and Serenity, a soft and flattering pale blue. According to Pantone Executive Director, Leatrice Eisenman, the color combination represents “connection and wellness, as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.” Connection and wellness? Order and peace? To us, those sound like the key ingredients to a happy marriage.
The extra hue means that weddings are very colorful this spring. The flattering combination is popping up everywhere; in floral arrangements, place settings, and even the bridal gowns themselves.
One area where the color scheme is particularly flattering is on the invitations, especially when used in the water color texture that’s so popular this season. Why rely on solid colors when you can print your place cards and invites in an alluring ombré.
Brides that are feeling a little bold are incorporating shimmery, metallic versions of Serenity in their gowns in addition to combining the color scheme in their bridesmaids dresses. And why not deviate from the traditional white dress with a tranquil blue or an ethereal pink? They say the wedding day is the bride’s day. She might as well make it memorable.
